Even Spread & Coloration
Once you put the XR30 Diffuser on your Ecotech Radion LED light you will instantly see a better balance of light throughout your aquarium. PAR tests have proven that even though the overall peak PAR numbers will decrease slightly, light output is distributed more evenly, providing better diffusion to lower light areas.The overall light loss is around 20%, and since a majority of us do not use even 80% of the available lighting output, the PAR loss can be combatted by increasing the overall power delivered to the LEDs.
Increased Spectrum Blending
Diffusing LED lights greatly helps blend the overall spectrum into one cohesive light source. Traditionally aquarium LEDs have used optics to increase the penetration of the light, but doing so actually makes each LED into its own little spotlight, making it harder for colors to blend. With the overall amount of light available in modern reef tank LEDs, more power is not always what’s needed for better results, and throughout our testing, we have found that evenly spread light that is blended properly is more important for coral health and growth.
LED lights are known for producing a lot of shimmer, also known as the “disco-ball effect” and the Ecotech Radion Diffuser directly attacks this problem head-on. With the overall goal being to mimic the natural sunlight or metal halide shimmer effects, the XR30 Diffuser is not perfect, but it gets much closer than almost any LED available today.
New design for the G5 makes use of integrated magnets. The result is that no tools are required to mount and the form factor is sleek and seamless. The magnetic attachment makes the diffuser lens very easy to clean.
Note: Due to the adapter plate required, the G5 Diffuser will not work with previous Radion generations.
